Marty's pizza was bigger than Luis' to start off with.

Let's say Marty had an 24 inch pizza and Luis had a 12 inch pizza.

1/4 of 24 is 6, therefore Marty ate 6 pieces.

1/3 of 12 is 4, therefore Luis ate only 4 pieces.

Therefore, even though Marty ate a lesser proportion of his pizza, he still ate more than Luis.
