Remember what each of these items are. An inference is when you come up with some sort of decision or or formed an opinion based on the data. The population parameter is what you used to decide who to include in the study. A random sample is when you randomly select people for the study. The sample statistic is who you sampled. So in this case, when you made a statement about the parents of the people in the sample, think about if you formed an opinion, or if your statement represents how you determined who to sample, or you get the idea. Remember we are just considering the statement, not the actual study.
