First you need to work out the absolute value, |2x+1| becomes - 2x - 1

after that add one to both sides leaving you with: - 2x=3x+4

then subtract - 3x from both sides leave you with: - 5x=4

lastly you divide by - 5 on both sides leaving you with: x=-5/4 as your answer

    2x+1=3x+4

    Subtract 4

    2x-3=3x

    Subtract 2x

    |-3|=-x

    Divide by - 1

    |3|=x is your answer
