    Area is equal to width times length:

    A = w*l

    We know A (48x^2+16x), l = 8x. Plugging into the equation:

    (48x^2+16x) = 8x * w Divide both sides by 8x

    6x + 2 = w

    The answer is width = (6x + 2) km
