The length of a rectangle is 11 centimeters less than three timesthree times its width. its area is 42 square centimeters. find the dimensions of the rectangle.

    3w-11 = l

    lw = 42

    This we can solve:

    w (3w-11) = 42 = > 3w² - 11w - 42 = 0

    using the quadratic formula, you'll find that w=6.
