The important facts that are given in the question should be payed heed to at first.

Amount of water leaked by the pool in 1/2 hour = 7/8 gallon

    Then

Amount of water leaked by the pool in 1 hour = (7/8) / (1/2) gallon

    = (7 * 2) / 8 gallon

    = 7/4 gallon.

So the swimming pool is leaking 7/4 gallon per hour. I hope this is the answer you were looking for and the procedure of doing this kind of problems is clear to you.
