Reese is seven years younger than Emily. If the sum of their ages is 37, find the age of each girl.

    R = E - 7

    R + E = 37

    Substitute E - 7 in for R.

    (E-7) + E = 37

    2E - 7 = 37

    2E = 44

    E = 22

    If Emily is 22, then Reese must be 22-7 = 15.
