    The cake had 12 pieces to begin with

    2 = 1/6

    4 = 2/6

    6 = 3/6

    8 = 4/6

    10 = 5/6

    12 = 6/6

    The way to find the total number of pieces is to take the 2 and times it by 6 so the total will be 12 pieces
