    Let x = width

    Then, x + 3 = length

    So, 2x + 2 (x + 3) = 26

    2x + 2x + 6 = 26

    4x = 20

    x = 5width = x = 5m and length = x + 3 = 8m Area = (length) (width) = (5) (8) =

    40 m2
