A midwestern family decides to drive

1,000 miles to the beach for their summer

vacation. The family is driving at an

average speed of 50mph and plans on

stopping 4 times to rest and take in the

new scenery. All together they will spend

36 hours on these stops. How many hours

will it take the midwestern family to reach

the beach?

    50 x 20 = 1000, 20 + 36 = 56 so 56 hours
