    Organometallic chemistry is a subfield of the organic chemistry that studies the organometallic compounds.

    The organometallic compounds are molecules that contain metal-carbon bonds.

    The Grignard reagents conform a very important group of substances formed by a hydrocarbon chain with magnesium and a halogen: R-Mg-X. For instance, CH₃CH₂MgBr.

    In general, the organometallic chemistry includes the study of the structure, the synthesis, the reactivity and the special use in catalytic processes, of the organometallic compounds.
