    5 Quarters

    5 Nickels

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Amount of nickels: n

    Amount of quarters: q

    n = 5 cents

    q = 25 cents

    n+q=10

    5n + 25q = 150

    n=10-q

    Substitute.

    5 (10-q) + 25q=150

    50-5q+25q=150

    50+20q=150

    20q=100

    q=5

    5 Quarters

    5 Nickels

    The other question:

    Dimes = D

    Quarters = Q

    d + q = 13

    q = 13 - d

    10d + 25 (13 - d) = 220

    Solve this equation.

    10d + 325 - 25d = 220

    325 - 15d = 220

    325 = 220 + 15d

    105 = 15d

    7 = d

    7 dimes

    6 quarters

    Third question:

    11 tickets total = $34

    Number of children's tickets = c

    Number of adult's tickets = a

    c = $2

    a = $4

    c + a = 11

    a = 11 - c

    2c + 4 (11-c) = 34

    2c + 44 - 4c = 34

    44 - 2c = 34

    44 = 34 + 2c

    10 = 2c

    5 = c

    5 children's tickets

    6 adult's tickets
