    The ratio can be calculated by doing the following steps;

    Step-by-step explanation:

    As mentioned above that there are 4 large apartment houses and 14 private homes, so the ratio can be calculated by dividing both the quantities.

    4:14

    It can be simply reduce by the table of 2.

    2:7

    Therefore, it can be said that for every 2 large home there are 7 private homes.

    1. Write the information out as a fraction as fractions and ratios are the same thing. So it would be 4/14 (apartment homes/private homes).

    2. Then you make the fraction as small as you can. So both 4 and 14 divide by 2 now making the fraction 2/7.

    3. You can easily convert that to a ratio by adding a : instead of a / so now it is 2:7 meaning for every 2 apartment houses there are 7 private homes.

    4. If needed you can divide it by 2 again to find the ratio of 1 apartment house to the number of private homes making the ratio now 1:3.5.

    5. Always remember to read what the question is asking so in this case it is apartments to private homes so apartments come first in the ratio then the private homes.
