How does 20/50 compare to 50 percent

Jenny claims 20/50 is equivalent to 70/100 because if I add 50 to the denominator to get to 100 and the add the 50 to the numerator to get 70 the faction becomes 70/100" explains why 20/50 & 70/100 are not equivalent portions

    To find equivalent fractions you have to multiply not add. Therefore, 20/50 is equal to 40/100.
