    Step-by-step explanation:

Total amount of money that Eddie had to spend was $20. The total number of gifts is 3 labelled as gift A, gift B and gift C.

He spent 11 9/10 dollars on gift A. Converting 11 9/10 dollars to improper fraction, it becomes 119/10 dollars.

He also spent 4 3/5 dollars on gift B. Converting 4 3/5 dollars to improper fraction, it becomes 23/5 dollars.

Total amount of money spent on gift A and gift B would be

    119/10 / + 23/5 = (119 + 46) / 10 = 165/10

    = $16.5

The amount that he has left for gift C would be 20 - 16.5 = $3.5
