    C + (-8) + (-5) = 0

    c - 8 - 5 = 0

    c - 13 = 0 (add 13 to each side)

    +13 + 13

    c = 13

    The answer is D.

    (-8) + (-5) = - 13 so plug in - 13 for variable c and you get - 13 + - 13 = 0
