The oblique rectangular prism below has a length of 6 cm, a width of 8 cm, and a height of 7 cm. What is the area of the base of the prism? What is the volume of the prism?

    Solution:

    We have:

    length = a = 6 cm

    width = b = 8 cm

    height = h = 7 cm

    area of the base of the prism = c

    volume of the prism = v

    Use: c = a * b

    c = a * b

    c = 6 * 8

    c = 48

    Use: v = c * h

    v = c * h

    v = 48 * 7

    v = 336

    c = 48 cm²

    v = 336 cm³
