Explain whether a quadratic function can have both a maximum value and a minimum value

A quadratic function can not have a maximum and minimum value. It can only take on one of those. The quadratic only makes one turn, so if the quadratic opens upwards, there is a minimum. If the quadratic opens downwards, there is a maximum.
