Can a rational number with rational exponent be irrational

    Yes. In general, a rational number with a non-integer exponent is not assured of being rational. (Any prime with a non-integer exponent is irrational, for example.)

    2^ (1/2) is irrational

    (9/25) ^ (3/2) is rational
