    x=10, y=7

    Step-by-step explanation:

    x + y = 17

    we know that ducks has 2 feet and sheep has 4 feet.

    so, 2x + 4y = 48

    x = 17 - y

    2 (17-y) + 4y = 48

    34 - 2y + 4y = 48

    2y = 48 - 3 4

    2y = 1 4

    y=7

    x + 7 = 17

    x = 17-7

    x=10
