    The cost = 75 candy bars •$0.49;

    75•49/100 = ((75•50) - 75) / 100 = ((75•100/2) - 75) / 100 = ((7500/2) - 75) / 100=

    (3750-75) / 100 = 3675/100 = 36.75

    Or

    75•50cents = 37.5

    considering you pay 50 cents instead of 49;

    37.5 - 0.75 = 36.75

    Now you took away the extra penny between 50 and 49
