    A soup can is a cylinder.

    The formula for volume of a cylinder is the following: V = Πr2h.

    We are given the height which is 12 (h=12) and the diameter which is 8 (d=8).

    The formula asks for radius so we divide the diameter by 2.

    r = 8/2 = 4.

    Now we can just plug the numbers into the formula

    V = Π (4) 2*12

    V = 603.19 cm3

    Since the units of measure is in centimeters, the volume will be measured in cubic centimeters.

    The radius is 4, so the area of the base is 16pi. 16pi times 12 is 192pi.
