    Twice a number (2 times x) dcreased by 8 (minus 8) is less than (<) 5 times the number (5 times x) increses by 10 (plus 10)

    2x-8<5x+10

    subtract 2x from both sides

    -8<3x+10

    subtract 10 from both sides

    -18<3x

    divide both sides by 3

    -6
