Sam goes to the market to buy hamburger for a cookout. He buys 3 3/4 pounds of hamburger. How many 1/4 pound patties can he make?

    I got three (my second answer I got was thirty) but I'm not too sure

    1 whole is made of 4 fourths

    so 3 wholes equal 4+4+4=12

    from three wholes you can make 12 patties

    also, add the extra 3/4 whole to get 3 fourths.

    so sam can make 15 patties from 3.75 wholes.
