    Vertical angles are equal

    2x + 40 = 8x - 32

    40 + 32 = 8x - 2x

    72 = 6x

    72/6 = x

    12 = x

    2 (12) + 40 = 24 + 40 = 64

    8 (12) - 32 = 96 - 32 = 64

    so angle 1 is 64 and angle 2 is 64
