    So the total bill will be 44.99 + 20% of 44.99 or the total bill (x) will equal 44.99 +.20 * 44.99

    x = 44.99 + (.20) 44.99

    x = 44.99 + 9.00

    x = $53.99

    *note -.20 (44.99) = 8.998 which rounds to $9.00
