(18 + 22 + 26 + 12 + 25 + 20 + 19 + x) / 8 = 24

(142 + x) / 8 = 24 ... multiply both sides by 8

142 + x = 24 * 8

142 + x = 192

x = 192 - 142

x = 50 ... so he would have to sell 50 cars in order to have a mean of 24
