    So first parenthasees

    4 (3a-8) = 12a-32

    group like terms

    5a+12a-32=4+13a

    17a-32=4+13a

    subtract 13a from both sides

    4a-32=4

    add 32 to both sides

    4a=36

    divide both sides by 4

    a=6
