Why does 2^-1 (6x-12) equal 3x-6?

    2^-1 = 1/2 :. 1/2 (6x-12) = 1/2 * 6x - 1/2 * 12 Basically ure dividing everything inside the brackets by two. Or multiplying by a half which is essentially the same thing.
