The escalator rises 25° from the ground and a vertical distance of 42 feet. How much horizontal distance does the escalator cover? Round to the nearest tenth.

    Set up a trig ratio.

    This would be a tangent ratio since we're working with adjacent and opposite.

    tan 25 = 42/x

    solving 42/tan25 = x

    x = 90.1 ft
