use long division or synthetic division

    I will use long

    y-3 times y=y^3-3y

    subtract that from y^2-y-11

    we are left with

    2y-11

    multiply y-3 by 2 and get 2y-6

    subtract that from 2y-11

    get 5 as a remainder

    answer is y+2+5 / (y-3)
