    Let us solve this by substitution;

    x = y + 6

    y = - 2 - x

    Now, we substitute the value of y in first equation. This gives us;

    x = (-2-x) + 6

    x = 4 - x

    thus, 2x = 4

    thus, x = 2.

    Substituting the value of x in equation of y,

    y = - 2 - x

    y = - 2 - 2

    thus, y = - 4.

    Thus, the solution is x = 2, y = - 4
