For every 8 squirrels that Travis sees in his backyard, six are dining at the bird feeder. Travis saw 28 squirrels today. About how many were eating birdseed?

    Hmm, ok so we have 28 squirrels, for every 8, we have 6 eating bird seed, well lets start with the first 8, we now have 6 eating bird seed out of the 8, another 8 jumps up our number to 16 squirrels with 12 eating seed, add another 8 and now we have 24 with 18 eating seed, now we have 4 left over, now we have a ratio of 8-6 we can simplify to 4-3, meaning for every 4, 3 are eating seed, add 3 to 18 and you get 21 out of the 28 are presumably eating bird seed
