    1) Rental company A

    f₁ (x) = price charged.

    x=number of miles

    We have this function.

    f₁ (x) = 0.1x+35

    2) Rental company B.

    f₂ (x) = price charged.

    x=number of miles.

    We have this function.

    f₂ (x) = 0.15x+25

    The price charged by each company will be the same when f₁ (x) = f₂ (x), therefore:

    0.1x+35=0.15x+25

    0.1x-0.15x=25-35

    -0.05x=-10

    x=-10 / - 0.05

    x=200

    Answer: the price charged will be the same after of 200 miles.

    35 + 0.10m = 25 + 0.15m

    35 - 25 = 0.15m - 0.10m

    10 = 0.05m

    10/0.05 = m

    200 = m ... after 200 miles driven, they will be the same
