    This is a ratio so we can simply set up a relation to find the unknown dimension ...

    If 3:20=h:l we can say:

    3/20=h/l and we are told l=40 so:

    3/20=h/40 multiply both sides by 40

    120/20=h do indicated division

    h=6 ft

    So the wall is 6 feet high.
