    The volume of a rectangular prism is given by:

    V = lwh

    twice the length: 2l, twice the width: 2w, half the height 1/2h:

    The volume of new prism:

    2l*2w*1/2h

    Factor:

    2*2*1/2*l*w*h

    So the volume is twice the original volume.
