Field experiments allow experiments to take place with no confounding variables. They are also very practical.

It gets you out in the sunshine and fresh air. Then, no matter how the experiment turns out, you get some exercise, you're healthier, and you feel better. Also, there's always a chance that someone may stop and ask what you're doing, and you might make a new friend that way.
