The solution for this problem is:

    Look first for the time to fall 1.1 m = √ 2.2 / 9.8 = 0.475 s

    Then, look for the speed at edge = 0.5 / 0.475 = 1.055 m/s

    Afterwards, compute for energy lost = word done against friction = F. d = µmgd = 0.5 x 0.1 x9.8 x 1.1 = 0.539 J

    Then, compute for original energy = 0.539 + 1/2 x m x v^2 = 0.539 + (0.5 x 0.1 x 1.055^2) = 0. 595 J

    Original speed = √ 2 E / m = √ 1.19 / 0.1 = 3.45 m/s
