A space shuttle is in orbit about the earth at an altitude where the acceleration due to gravity is 8.70 m/s2. What is the shuttle's speed at this altitude?

2.65 * 10 3 m/s

7.45 * 10 3 m/s

7.68 * 10 3 m/s

7.91 * 10 3 m/s

    The answer is C : 7.68 * 10 3 m/s

    8.7 m/s2 = (5.98 * 10 to the 24th power) - this is the mass of earth * (6.67 * 10 to the - 11 power) - this is the gravitational constant / v squared = ans (6.77 * 10 to the 6th power

    Then do v squared divided by 6.77 * 10 to the 6th power when you calculate it would be 7.68 * 10 3 m/s
