    a) 1.70N/m^2

    b) 4.8 * 10^-6

    Explanation:

    Parameters given:

    Cross sectional area = 4.0104m^2

    Maximum Force = 6.8104N

    a) Maximum Stress = Maximum Force/Area

    Maximum Stress = 6.810/4.0104

    Maximum Stress = 1.70N/m^2

    b) Strain = Stress/Young's Modulus

    Young's modulus of the outer surface of bone has been measured to be 20.7 GPa i. e. 2.07 * 10^7Pa

    Strain = 1.7 / (2.07 * 10^7)

    Strain = 4.8 * 10^-6

    Strain is dimensionless.
