A ball is dropped from a cliff that is 256 feet high. The height of the ball (in feet) after t seconds is given by the formula h (t) = 256 - 16t^2. How many seconds (to the nearest tenth) will it take for the ball to hit the ground? A. 4096 sec B. 16sec C. 15.5 sec D. 4 sec

    t = 4 sec

    Explanation:

    given,

    height of the cliff = 256 ft

    equation of height and time

    h (t) = 256 - 16 t²

    time at which the ball hit the ground = ?

    when the ball hit the ground height of the cliff is equal to zero

    h (t) = 0

    now,

    0 = 256 - 16 t²

    16 t² = 256

    t² = 16

    t = 4 sec

    hence, height of the ball will be equal to zero when time is 4 seconds.
