    Explanation:

    The modern science is based on the data of probability. According to the studies it can be find that the probability of developing the lungs cancer is 21 times larger in smokers in comparison with non smokers.

    These type of statements do not reflects data accurately. Scientific data rarely go with accurate conclusions. Because not all the smokers died due to the lung cancer they can be died due to some other disease.

    From this it can be clearly seen that all data show variability and it is the role of statistics to quantify the variability of this data and give scientist a good chance to make their statements more accurate about their data.
