Newton believed that the universe was static with the stars fixed in place for all time. In view of his theory of gravity, in which all objects attract all other objects in the universe, how did he explain the fact that these stars did not pull themselves toward each other under these mutual forces, causing the universe to collapse?

    The belief of Newton of the static universe and the fixation of stars in place where these stars did not pull each other due to the force of gravity which may cause the universe to collapse was explained by Newton.

    Newton further proposed a concept of an infinitely and evenly spread universe where the gravitational forces are completely balanced in every direction, i. e., the pulling force exerted by one star to another neighboring star is balanced by the force exerted by the other stars perfectly in all the directions.
