    A substance that is magnetic is a substance that can generate or produce magnetic field

    Explanation; Magnetic substances generate magnetic field since they have atoms or molecules that have unpaired electrons. Magnetic materials may be either paramagnetic or ferromagnetic. Paramagnetic materials are materials such as aluminium in which become magnetized in a magnetic field but their magnetism disappears upon the removal of magnetic field. Ferromagnetic materials are materials such as nickel and iron which can reatin their magnetic properties even when magnetic field is removed.
