Answer: The earth is away from the moon, therefore not casting a shadow on the moons surface caused by the sun.

Explanation:When the sun, moon, and earth are aligned and the sun shines on the moon casting a shadow on the earth it is mooning the earth. When the sun, moon, and earth are not aligned, the sun is away from the earth and behind or away from the moon. It allows us to see the moon entirely without the earths shadow causing a crescent moon or any of the other stages.
