    Explanation:

    The function of chemo-receptors is to detect change in chemical concentrations in the body. They are an extension of the peripheral nervous system. Without chemo-receptors a person would not be able to maintain cardio-respiratory homeostasis.

    When a signal is sent by a pain receptor an electrical signal travels through the peripheral nervous system to the spinal cord. The signal gets processed in the spinal cord where neurotransmitters are released and send the signal to the brain. The signal gets processed further in the brain by which we feel pain.
