    Explanation:

    The similarities between alternating current AC and the direct current DC is that both use electrons as the charge carriers in the circuit, and can transport energy in doing so.

    Both kinds of current are harnessed energy that can be tapped.

    The difference between AC and DC lies in the direction in which the electrons flow. In DC, the electrons flow steadily in a single direction, or "forward." In AC, electrons keep switching directions, sometimes going "forward" and then going "backward"

    Alternating current is used in most electricity distribution systems for several reasons, but the most important one is the ease with which it can be transformed from one voltage to another.

    To transform DC, electronic circuits are used to generate AC which is then transformed with a transformer and rectified back to DC

    Most of the digital electronics that we build will use DC. However, most homes are wired for AC.

    AC also has some useful properties, such as being able to convert voltage levels with a single component (a transformer), which is why AC was chosen as the primary means to transmit electricity over long distances.
