Explanation:

Thunderstorm is term given to occurrence of heavy rains accompanied by high sounds and lightening. As the sound is produced due to lightening, that sound is termed as thunder and the presence of heavy rain is termed as storm.

So both together is termed as thunderstorm. Thunderstorm usually occurs due to increase in moisture, temperature and when the heated air molecules are raised upward. During these thunderstorms, the occurrence of heavy rains, flow of strong winds and severe lightening are well known.

So heavy rains can lead to flash flooding and destruction of homes, strong winds will also lead to damage of objects and lightening may cause forest fire. Thus these three events during thunderstorm causes damage.
