    The treaty of Versailles which was drafted to punish Germany at the end of World War 1 for its transgressions that led to the advent of World war 1, held Germany responsible for its actions, ordered it to pay reparations to the Allies as well as to give up part of its land to neighboring countries, such as France. The Allies were in agreement regarding this course of action.
