If you heat a container filled with gas, you will increase the internal pressure.

The heat energy that you add to the gas gets spread around and increases

the average kinetic energy of all the gas molecules. We perceive all of those

averagely increased molecular kinetic energies as increased pressure.

(Because the pressure of the gas is the result of all those tiny gas molecules

zipping around and hitting the inside of the container.)
